About this spot

Overview

Cedar Grove Stock campsite is located deep in the Kings Canyon of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in central California's rugged Sierra Nevada range. You are required to have stock animals to camp here. If you reserve a site and do not have stock your reservation will be cancelled with full cancellation fees.

Recreation

Cedar Grove trails include Hotel Creek, Don Cecil, Roaring River Falls, Zumwalt Meadow, Kanawyer, and Mist Falls. Roads End offers access to the backcountry of Kings Canyon. Backcountry permits are available for overnight stays. Roadside river access is abundant for barbless fishing. Boyden Cavern (with daily tours) and Grizzly Falls are popular destinations in the nearby USNFS land. Stop by the Cedar Grove Visitor Center or attend an interpretive evening campfire ranger program at the amphitheater for more fun and learning.

Facilities

Cedar Grove campground is an equestrian campground only. One campsite, no trash service. What you pack in you must pack out. No potable water on site. Stream fed horse trough, restroom is a porta potty, RV parking and tent site with picnic table, food storage and bear box are provided at Cedar Grove Stock campground. Pay shower and market available short walk or drive at nearby Cedar Grove Village.

Natural Features

Oak and Cedar accent the campground which sits in the base of the canyon near the Kings River; the granite walls of the canyon tower above. This region is characterized by hot days and cool nights during summer.

Nearby Attractions

Mist Falls is a 4-mile hike from Roads End Permit Station. Roads End also offers the Bubbs creek and Kanawyer trails, or you can visit John Muir Rock. Zumwalt Meadow trail connects to Roaring River Falls nearby Knapps Cabin. Don Cecil trail can be taken to lookout peak or Hotel Creek trail can be taken to another lookout. Grizzly Falls is popular and Boyden Cavern offers several daily cave tours. Cedar Grove Campgrounds, Cedar Grove Visitor Center, amphitheater for evening programs, and Cedar Grove Market/Lodge are also nearby.

Charges & Cancellations

Payment in full will be charged to your credit card upon completion of the reservation. A $10.00 service fee will apply if you change or cancel your reservation. Additional fees will apply for late cancellations     All cancellations made between midnight on the day before arrival and check out time on the day after arrival are considered late cancellations and will incur a $10.00 cancellation fee and will also forfeit the first night’s use fee. Cancellations for a single night’s reservation will forfeit the entire use fee but no cancellation fee will apply.
